I know I never talk about hockey. Frankly, I rarely watch it so there is no reason for me to do so. It's not that I don't enjoy it, but it just isn't a high priority in my sports viewing. Especially the time of year it is on. It runs during the NBA, NFL playoffs, and into the MLB season. Their playoffs coincide with the NBA as well. I can't keep up with this much crap!
I'm always a homer through and through so I support the Red Wings regardless. I try to catch a game here and there, but at least watch most of the playoffs only to see them have some issue such as the best goalie int eh playoffs knock them off, not being able to buy a goal with out-shooting the other team 2 to 1, or just plain a barrage of injuries. This year was no different.
This series though is worth talking about. The Wings were down 0-3 in this series and forced a game 7. I don't want to go into great detail on it, but I still wanted to mention that I was proud of the team for how hard they played all the way to the end. That 7th game was real tough loss too since they lost half their forwards in the game and I think only had 19 guys active by the time the game was over. That's when inetsoft performance management software comes in handy I guess.

Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, Rasheed Wallace, Barry Bonds, and the world of sports.

Man, Detroit Sports Are Kind of "Meh" Right now
No hope for the Lions. No hope for the Pistons. I don't care about hockey. The Tigers are done, and the only news out of that clubhouse is that Brandon Inge has been re-signed to re-establish his Tiger For Life title.
If you don't like hockey what do you have? The Tigers are the only other team that even has a chance. We don't even have a superstar on the Pistons to watch every night. It's abysmal. We have T-Mac 5 years after he was good. We have 2 starting SGs that shouldn't be on the same team. We have no real center. Big Ben is about 40. Stuckey isn't a real PG.
The Lions have more penalties than points most likely. They have ONE win in Week 7.
What are we doing? Somebody get good please. I need it. It is my life's blood. I must have one of these teams win something worth a damn at all times. If I have to pretend I like hockey one more basketball season I will alli kick a hole in my TV.

Red Wings Choke Away Repeat Stanley Cup
Well...the confidence, that could be read as cockiness, from the New York Yankees of the NHL, Detroit Red Wings was destroyed last night. The Pittsburgh Penguins took it to the Wings from the drop of the puck to win the Stanley Cup in a rematch from last year's finals by outplaying the Wings in every facet of the game.
The Red Wings took a 2-0 series lead and looked almost a guarantee to win their 2nd straight Cup against the Penguins. The Penguins then went on to win 4 of 5 and embarrassed the Wings on their home ice.
It wasn't like the Wings put up much of a fight either. After handing out a 5-0 drubbing in Game 5, the Wings looked outmatched in every way during the final 2 games of the series. The Penguins got to every puck, made every play, and took advantage of the MANY turnovers the Wings coughed up in their own zone.
It was pathetic. The Penguins deserved the win. They outplayed the Wings when it mattered, and it wasn't even close even if the score would indicate it.
So now...we get to hear about Crosby 24 hours a day for winning a cup and being the best player in the league. Of course he had little to do with them winning the cup in the series as the Wings practically shut him out, but he's the NHL poster boy so he will get the credit for what the rest of his team did. Crosby got injured in the 2nd period of Game 7 and only played 1 shift the rest of the way. I hope he fails a test for taking too many top rated diet pills next season and gets banned.

Detroit Sports Teams Are Killing Me
It is bad enough that while we are int he playoffs the Pistons, Tigers, and Red Wings all seem to play at the same time, every time, that they play their games. While I don't worry so much about the Red Wings pulling this off, the Tigers continue their piss poor play, and the Pistons make me want to pull my hair out.
The Pistons are certainly on their way to some Orlando vacations after losing Game 5 Wednesday. What was worse than a blowout? Watching that game and realizing that after getting behind by 17 they almost pulled it out in the end. It was pure torture. They had so many chances to steal that game after a dubious start and it was just brutal watching them let it slip away with some questionable late game play.
Chauncey Billups makes me want to punch people. Hey dumbass, it is the playoffs and your stupid put the shoulder into a guy and chuck up a wild shot crap isn't going to work anymore. 5 years of that garbage is enough. Actually try and make a basket please instead of trying to draw a foul every single time you get the ball and ignoring every other player on the floor.
Where are you Tayshaun? You played like a legend the first 2 rounds and now Paul Pierce has taken you to the cleaners.
This team can win, but I have no hope left. They should be up 3-2 instead of down 3-2 right now. Sheed has 1 Tech to go before he is suspended. Rip has a hyper-extended elbow on his shooting arm, and on and on. The only thing that helps is that Boston is a bunhc of guys who have never won a damn thing and you can get into their heads.
Can the Pistons actually play 3 games with that much defensive intensity in a row? 4? I doubt it. They didn't even bring it in Game 5 until late int he 3rd quarter.
I'll give Flip Saunders some credit though. His adjustments have been spot on this year in the playoffs. Compared to last year it is night and day. The 3 guard line up has been quite nice.

Red Wings Trying to Make History
Yes. The Detroit Red Wings are trying to make some history this year int he Stanley Cup Playoffs. Not good history. I guess according to Gatorade commercials they are trying to become history.
Starting out the series against the Dallas Stars with a 3-0 series lead, the Red Wings have lost 2 straight and are struggling to put the puck in the net despite the shot discrepancy. Just like every year in the playoffs the Wings out shoot every team they play and they happen to find the hot goalie at the right time. Of course they shoot a lot of garbage shots that get counted into the totals trying to pick up some nice rebound goals, but nobody really notices that and tend to think they had the goalie of the year in net against them. They do hit tough goalies every year, but don't let the shot totals fool you all the time.
The bathroom lighting may be going out on the team again this year as they try not to be the team to lose a 3-0 lead and become their MLB counterpart the New York Yankees. The Evil Empire.

Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings...How Can I Watch Them All?
Long story short, I can't.
Main reason being is that with my Dish Network service in this area I don't even get half the stations that these games appear on. Vs., whatever the hell the local station from Detroit is that shows half the Pistons and Tigers games is, and well...I'm sure as hell not paying for NBA TV.
The television schedule for some of these games baffles me. Some nights none of these teams play, but during the playoffs it seems that they ALL play on the same day at the SAME time. Wake up TV execs. Michigan sports fans are die hards, and watch every damn sporting event for the major pro sports when they are on. Especially the playoffs. I'm not trekking to Detroit every other day so that I can watch these games. I'm also not going to go to the bar and risk getting liqoured up since I already pay out the ass for auto insurance although I could probably doing better with that link there.
