Think I Need To Switch Back To DirecTV

When you switch cable companies it is like a gamble as to what stations you actually end up with when they leave your house. I don't care how much you have reviewed the packages on the website, or even what the person you ordered from told you, you never have all the channels you think you are gonna have.

Half the time you get a new channel you love in the switch, but lose another one in the same stroke. Like when I first switched from Dish Network to DIRECT TV I had stuff like NFL Network, but I didn't have a bunch of local sports stations I wanted for the Pistons.

So then I decided to switch to another provider from DIRECTTV and ended up getting some of those, and getting MLB Network (This station is gold for fantasy), but at the same time I lost NFL network and a ton of regular season games that they play later in the season. Not to mention all the NFL Replays where you get to watch condensed versions of the weeks' games.

Now that the NFL season is almost over I'm not as worried about it,b ut when this contract runs out I will probably switch back to DIRECTV simply for NFL Network and the ability to get the MLB Ticket for all the MLB games that you can't get on most other providers. I don't know, it is just annoying.

I've gotten back into doing reviews the past few days and it has helped me get back into blogging again. Down to using a coin sorter instead of a bill counter so I guess it is time to get back to work. I had been slacking a bit and getting somewhat burned out posting so much the last couple of months. Slacking on my visiting other bloggers and leaving comments. So you should see me around a bit more shooting the bull.

Anyways, back to the review, sorry for the meaningless information...lol

This Crazy, but that's how it goes blog has more blogrolls than I have ever seen. Gotta love the bloggers that get out and network.

The post Teenagers and Privacy brings up an interesting question. "Should I be checking up on them and, if so, to what degree?". She shares the experiences she had while she was growing up and wonders what the limits are to checking up on your own teenagers.

So you can write a long review, or you can go out and do a few quick links to give some of your blog friends some love. This post is a quick link love sessions for a few friends. So much easier to do it blogging than writing notes with Pens and paper.

1) The Ms. Danielle is a blogger I met recently that has a lot of great information to share. She asks some questions in a recent post about the blog ethics after it was brought up to her when she did a post that was about one of the same things a blogger we see often did some hours earlier. The question was whether or not she should give him credit, but she hadn't even seen his post yet. What do you think?

2) The Mr. Gary Lee is another great blogger that I met recently. We had a good time the other day with his contest that asked to have us take a picture of our workstation and share it. Since a lot of us work from home it was interesting to see how our home offices looked.

3) The great Saman is everywhere. He is a commenting machine and a good example for most of us who slack on the blog visiting. Saman is one of the bloggers who utilizes this Speed Linking often and has seen great results. He has an array of various hacks that you can utilize with Windows, Firefox and many more.

4) Marisa has a couple blogs I have been reading, but today I'm going to focus on Scribble on the Wall. This blog is about all the crazy and interesting things she runs a crossed on the internet. With the way most of our blogs are now set up we need to know something about CSS. Marisa has some great CSS code tips and resources to draw from.

5) Snuz is a blog buddy that I started blogging with. She has one billion blogs now and is making a handsome income on the net now. Recently she created a tech blog called the Tech Inspector. She's a Firexox extension and Wordpress plugin nut so there is probably about a hundred articles on thise things over there, or will be at some point...lol

Visit My Blog Buddy: Digital Nomad

I met Digital Nomad, a.k.a Michael, over on MyBlogLog when he made a comment on my profile. Since then we have had a few discussions and I have been able to check out his great blogs. They are all extremely well written, as he has a background as a writer.

The first blog is Digital Nomads. Described as "Being Digital in An Analog World / Living The Virtual Lifestyle / Travel and Work / When You Want from Where You Want". We live in a world where we can get any information we need in almost any location. MAny of us are actually making all our money in a virtual world so reading about the products that make it easier is beneficial.

A couple of interesting posts that I wanted to point out are Extreme Technology for The Portable Professional in which he describes a couple of interesting companies he wants you to comment on in the categories of WiFi and Satellite. HE has interest in these companies and is looking for those of you that may have had experience with them to leave some comments aobut it.

He has also added some information about a useful device in digital nomads translation utility tool. The utility tool is very interesting to me and is likely going to be useful for many of you that read it.

Next we have The Soho Quest. This blog is about "Small Office / Home Office Technology & Telecommunications Product Reviews & Resources for The SOHO Online Professional" and like the others is very well written.

The Blogosphere Creates Need to Coin New Words article is something I run into frequently. I've always noticed it in business and professional interactions as well too. Seems that people just assume their readers understand certain terms. Just like when you are having a chat with a doctor friend or something and they are using work related acronyms that you would never know about so you have to ask. I appreciate it when people don't assume I have knowledge of their business and don't use terms that I have to look up, or ask about.

Now this post caught my eye immediately. Things to Consider When Joining Online Forums are some tips about why or why not you would want to avoid a forum. Why it peaked my interest is that I actually have a blog about posting in online communities called Internet Serious Business. I just found it interesting to see a bit of what other people say about forums when I talk about the people that are in them so frequently.

The final blog of Michael's I want to mention is called The Sovereign Journey. The easiest way for me to describe it is simply by showing you his "What this blog is and is Not":

That is a whole lot of interesting to me. Not anything like I have seen around lately so it is nice to see a different type of blog pop up in the blogshere.

His post "I Am Deeply Grateful to Have a Blog" is exactly the kind of thing that should make you think. Why do you have a blog? Just for money? Do you have things to say about the world and want to actually use a blog to do it? Many of us do write for money, but those that make the most money tend to have blogs that have interesting information that will ignite discussion. Being in America you can say anything you want and others can tell you that you are wrong. We all have the freedom to do that and this blog is for thinkers who want to expand their minds.

That post mentions something called Super Cool School that i have been following a while as well. The concept of it is fascinating and you should check that out as well after you read his post.

Even with great content you still need to be somewhat sociable to get the word out about your blogs at first. Michael introduces another social-networking service to do just that in Check Out Ziki as Another Social Network Online Agregator. The importance of networking is never lost on me so the more networks I can get involved in the better.

Tammie Beagle

One of my blogging friends, Marisa wanted to let me know about a friend of hers that just started blogging named Tammie Beagle. Tammie has had a very interesting career before she decided to take the plunge into blogging. She has worked as a DJ and went on to work in a the newsroom before she ended up back in the DJ booth once again. The welcome post on her blog tells a real story about where she came from and how she got here. I don't want to tell her story here because I want you to go to her blog. I will give you a little teaser though from that post...a very little teaser:

From there, it was on to the Newsroom, where I spent my days chatting with the real movers and shakers: mayors, governors, senators — I even landed an exclusive interview with the Vice President of the United States!

She has impressed me immediately with her writing skill. Every post is a story in and of itself. Posts like the Return of the Urban Legend is just a small sample of the thought she puts into her blog posts. This blog is going to be impressive. How she started out on her own domain already is impressive too. It took me a few months to take that plunge and she is already there. This blog is going to be big time I think. It just has all the makings of a very well written and interesting experience for the readers.

Key West or Bust

Leigh is a girl gamer? Awesome. Glad to see a lady gamer around. They are more common than they used to be, but still too few of them. She has a dear of moving to Key West or Bust. Even if it takes her until she is 80 she is going to move there. I know the feeling. I live in Michigan and it ugly right now in the winter. I grew up wanting to move to Cali and just never made it out of here because my family depends on me too much.

I can identify a lot with this blog actually the more I read it. I've had many of the same experiences and it is interesting to see someone write about things that are so familiar to me, and not just the gaming aspect. Her experience with MMORPGs made me laugh as I have some of those experiences with Socom Clans and other shooters I play online.

Shopingmum's Home Office

Shoppingmum has a new blog on her own domain called Shoppingmum's Home Office. It just started, but it looks like it will be about working from home and running a web store on her site. She was kind enough to link to my new blog, so I am going to return the favor. Visit back to her often becasue she will be updating more soon.

The Sanctuary and The New Santuary

Anthrax has their own blog. No, not the band, but the disease that gained prominance after the 9/11 terrorist attack with stories int he news about it being spread through the mail to unsuspecting Americans. The blog called The Sanctuary is written by Anthraxxxx about any and all randomness he thinks of on a given day. He doesn't claim to be on top of the music scene in his post about an MTV video, but I'm not real up to date either so it isn't like I'm a head of him for popular music...lol

He has gotten himself his own hosted domain as well and calls it The New Sanctuary. This blog is starting to come into its own and looks great so far. Check out some of his categories such as Anime and Manga and Humor to get a better look into the mind of Anthraxxxx.

Off the Cuff

Got linked by the author of Off the Cuff recently from one of their other sites which is a PR5 page. LEast I can do is give them a few extra links to their blog Off the Cuff and write a short review about it.

Off the Cuff is a site that has the tagline "An Arkansas view of the news, politics, entertainment, you name it." and does everything it says. I found some very interesting categories on this blog and one that stuck out right away was the Shame of America section. You'll have to take a look to see the amazing takes on the many odd things in America today.

Another category of note are his Beyond Bizarre category. This one looks at all kind of weird stuff and news that you may have missed. This blog overall has a lot of interesting takes on the strange things that seem to be going on in the world and is extremely well written. Definitely a must read.

Esplanade

This blog is by Lyndon, working on his degree in Aerospace Engineering. Esplanade is what he does in his spare time when not studying and doing research where he shares his ramblings on whatever he feels like. He shares interesting videos and images, but he does provide eductaion as well. His post Due diligence: How to research before investing in a stock holds some special meaning to me. You see I have a degree in finance and used to own my own business as a financial advisor so that post makes me smile. It is very accurate.

Aylee: bits of who i am

Aylee has another incredible blog Aylee bits which is incredibly informative and helpful. I didn't have to go far to find a post taht was helpful to me. The very first post I saw caught my eye and will be referred to by me immediately. She lists all the essential Wordpress components that she uses on her blog from the plugins, counters, feed manager, and image hosts. That plugin list is definitely something I will be checking out. She has many of the ones I use and can agree that they are great. Quit e afew I have not tried yet either, but will be soon thanks to her.

Gimme a Break

A busy mom chasing minutes all day long is looking for a break. Her blog Gimme a Break talks about all kinds of things, but they are all interesting. The site is clean and easy to read which is something I always like to compliment. I found her post about how to complain effectively pretty funny. She has some tips about how it should be done that you won't want to miss...lol

G3 news & views

The informational blog, G3 News & Views has an enormous amount of useful information about working from homw and making money online. Posts about how to do it wight are all over this blog. The post, Home Businesses You can Easily Slip into Your Daily Schedule gives you a great look into some ideas that will work for you if you apply them. Stay there for a while and read and I promise you will learn something that will make you some money.

Welcome to DorisGoShopping.com

Doris has put together a very professional looking blog called Welcome to DorisGoShopping.com. Her use of pictures gives it a very nice feel when you get inside and the recommendations are very well written. I'm very impressed with the clean design. She does great reviews of interesting products and does very well with linking to the products of interest for her readers. Buying with a purpose is a great story about a gift received as well as the story behind it.

Beautiful British Columbia

Heather writes about boating, fishing, family, history and daily living in the Beautiful British Columbia. Her blog has a friendly feel to it and a nice atmosphere. Reading through all the posts one caught my eye and as I read along the story was even more interesting. She has a video of a Shark Attack that is posted on YouTube, but the story itself is what is most interesting. The video was made by here step-son and he actually got some loot for selling the rights to it. You'll have to go over to her blog though to find out how much he got as well as the great story behind it.

Coffee Time

A fairly new blogger, but she has caught on quickly. Coffee Time is her place to relax and talk about anything she is interested in.

Her post about The 70's describes her quite a bit so take a look and give her a comment to let her know you were there.

Burf's blog is entirely about mobile devices. He spends his blogging time keeping you up to date on the latest mobile news. Reading along I came acrossed an article about something I had never really thought about before. Creating games for mobile devies and the people that do it. You always think of game makers as those that program for consoles or the PC, but someone has to do it for mobile devices don't they? Check out hi post on Game developing contest for Motorola users and see that there is a market out there for it.
