Justin Rogers had an article about Monroe's game in the Rookie Challenge that pretty much sums it up. He said that Monroe didn't really fit in with the guys that played in this game that are more showing off than playing hoops, but Monroe showed why he is right for Detroit.
He's right, but that doesn't mean we still wouldn't have loved a guy that could be the man when needed. Monroe works hard, and plays hard. Tries to play fundamental. These are things that are part of Detroit basketball, or we want them to be. Guys that grab board, set picks, box out, and play some D. Monroe finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds in the game that the rookies won 148-140.
There may be people out there that like these games, but for me it epitomizes just how poorly kids are taught how to play basketball in the era that Jordan built. Something that everyone that tried to emulate MJ forgot was that he actually knew how to do a lot of things other than just fly. Most of these guys coming out after one year of college are pretty much starting from scratch when it comes to playing in a until it seems. Always being on teams where they are the entire focus, and the offense. They are always let to go with their own devices. Having so much more talent than their peers they don't really NEED to learn a lot of these skills until they get to the NBA, but it is nice seeing guys that actually have some of them. Some learn and become great. Others are looking for slimming wraps after they decide they got paid and don't wnat to put in the work.
The rookies outplayed them as a team. Of course watching Blake Griffin was the only real reason to watch this game and he did what he does.

Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, Rasheed Wallace, Barry Bonds, and the world of sports.

Bieber 4 MVP
Haha...is this guy the most popular person in the history of the world, or what? Not only did his "movie" come out this week, and garner an astonishing level of hate by crazy people to give it a 1.1/10 rating on IMDb.com, but he played in the Celeb Game at the NBA All-star weekend.
And he won the MVP!
Of course this was a fan vote sort of thing so it isn't like anyone else had a chance. Game was completely sold out by all his little fangirls on diet pills and his fans gave him the win easily.
He didn't look awful. Seemed to be able to dribble a bit at least. Made a couple 3s.
The insanity of this whole thing is off the charts. This video below has at this posting 453 likes, and 3,404 dislikes. Humanity is in deep, deep trouble. The kind of crap you see said about this kid, who is 16 years-old by the way is scary. Like psycho crazy scary.

Spoof: Michael Jordan's Response To Lebron James Commercial
I'm not sure if you could call this a spoof really as they are both real commercials, but this is an excellent editing job. After we were all "witness" the the Lebron James circus announcement press conference we all lost a little respect for him. HE looked like a giant douche, and while I don't fault him for moving on to Miami (who are 9-7 only so far this year) and taking up with the next Dream Team, I still think he looked like a tool with his whole act.
Shortly after he signed, Lebron had a Nike commercial in which he talked about how hard everything is and how people are mean to him. At least that is what I got out of it. If you haven't seen it decide for yourself here.
Now someone has taken an old Michael Jordan commercial and spliced it together with that LEbron commercial. Basically this guy gives Lebron a full colon cleanse without even kissing him first.
Here's a quote from a Youtube user I like:
"If Lebron James starred in Space Jam 2, he would leave the Toon Squad for the Monstars in the middle of the movie."

Miami All-Stars Back in the Game, Lebron Says, Hi
When you can't seem to get anything done as a team just remind yourself that you are Lebron and you played with high school kids for 5 years already and you are decent at basketball. Now midway through the 4th quarter the mighty Heat Dynasty (it better be) has whittled it down to about 5 points and we have a bit of a real game here.
Miami still looks lost. Bosh not shooting 65% all year is a crime. Dude should never have any coverage on him. Every time Lebron, or Wade touch the ball he should be open for a 12 footer when slipping out of the lane. Any pick and roll the dude will never get followed. HE will be able to get cherry picker put backs every game. I wouldn't be shocked if he shot 70% this year.
The Celtics at home are probably the toughest game they have this year so if they can pull this out you know things are gonna get ugly for the rest of the league. Maybe Delonte and his acne pill will take it out on Lebron's mom.

Miami All-Stars Era Begins
After a half of basketball all of the haters have seen what they want. A giant cluster**** of one on one ball with Lebron, Wade, and Bosh looking clueless as to how to run an offense together. The Celtics dominating them on defense. The Heat with no shooters. The Heat deciding that double teams aren't even gonna stop them from trying to shoot. Passing? Get outta here.
At the half they were down double digits and midway through the 3rd are still down 15 and nothing is changing. They actually came out in the 2nd half and tried to post up Bosh. HE was double teamed and lost the ball on the first possession. Only way they can score is to get fouled at this point. It's really embarrassing.
There are 3 of these guys so at most 2 should be standing around gawking. This isn't MJ out there playing by himself. These guys need a dose of glucosamine chondroitin & msm to kill the pain.

Big Surprise. The NBA is Fixed.
LOL!
The 40-year-old Tim Donaghy resigned from the NBA two weeks ago and is the man of the hour. Accused of fixing games due to gambling debts, he is thought to have been a mafia target to change game outcomes. HE also is known to have bet on games that he officiated. I doubt this guy could get a job selling vintage fabrics at this point and is pretty much a leper in the sports world.
Man the NBA just gets worse and worse every time I try to get back into it. Fans everywhere always complain about the officiating in any sport, but this time they have good reason to believe that games really are fixed. I've watched so many NBA games the last few years that I have wondered many times if some of these referees were ont he take. I guess now my suspicions are founded.

A point-shaving scandal is an enormous problem in any sport. This one, which might involve an NBA referee, has the potential to permanently scar the league.
The NBA acknowledged Friday the FBI is investigating Tim Donaghy for betting on games, including ones in which he officiated. read more...

Dirk Wins the NBA MVP
Like nobody saw this one coming, but it is still hilarious. The Dallas Mavericks were the best team in the NBA all season winning an incredible 67 out of 82 games this year. Dirk was the star so you give him the MVP.
Then it comes to the playoffs and they get bounced in the first round. This was the first time a #1 seed has lost to a #8 seed (lowest playoff seed) in NBA history. The Golden State Warriors owned the MAvs all season long and only losrt to the MAvs once.
Even so...Dirk wins the award for his regular season and the playoffs make no difference. He held off back to back winner Steve Nash from winning his 3rd straight league MVP, and you could argue that he deserved to win it again.
If Dirk doesn't learn how to win in the playoffs he will be selling Portable Water Filters to make ends meet...lol

Kobe Bryant Suspended Again
NEW YORK - Kobe Bryant was suspended one game by the NBA on Wednesday for striking a player in the face, his second penalty for that action in a little more than a month.
And if he does it again, he could be looking at a more severe punishment.
"We considered suspending him for multiple games," NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson said on a conference call. "Certainly if this occurs again, most likely there would be multiple games."
The most recent incident came with 58 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter of the Lakers' 117-107 double-overtime loss to Minnesota on Tuesday night, when Bryant struck Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric after taking a shot. read more...
Billups gets more calls than Wade?
I was suprised to see this list and to tell you the truth I'm too lazy to confirm it by averaging this up myself. Wade is busted right now anyways so it doesn't mean much. When he is in the playoffs he gets more calls than paternity suit lawyers looking to be the father of Anna Nicole's kid.
1 Billups DET 1.55
2 Maggette LAC 1.53
3 Wade MIA 1.51
4 Pierce BOS 1.44
5 Iverson DEN 1.42

My Fantasy Hoops team
Been so busy lately I dropped out of a playoff spot because I forgot to set my roster 3 days last week. Would have went 6-1 if I had set my team, but ended up 1-5.
My roster is just stacked though. 10 team league Take a look:
PG C. Billups
SG M. Miller
G Mo Williams
SF Crymelo
PF Marion
F Lebron James
C Dwight Howard
Util Rashard Lewis
Util Mike Bibby
BN Nick Collison
BN Chucky Atkins
BN LArry Hughes
BN Dorko Milicic
I honestly should be in first place with the way Mike Miller and Mo Williams have played this year. I need to keep my roster updated. I'm costing myself big time.

Crymelo got 15 Games?
Come on man. My fantasy team was doing so well. That's like 150 points a week I'm going to lose now for a month. Now they trade for Iverson and it will really kill me. Worst possible scenario for my team. Not only do I lose him for 15 games, but Mr. Ballhog himself has just joined the team. How is Crymelo Ballhog Jr. going to score 30 a game with this going on?
Ugh....
Ugh....

Crymelo and Knicks are Likes to Fight guys
Well not really. They look like a bunch of pansies. Crymelo got himself in a nice sucker punch tonight that by all accounts was quite a cheap shot. All in all 10 players got ejected from this New York Knicks/Denver Nuggets:
From Denver:
Crymelo Anthony
J.R. Smith
Andre Miller
Marcus Camby
Eduardo Najera
From New York:
Channing Frye
David Lee
Mardy Collins
Jared Jeffries
Nate Robinson
Pretty funny seeing a bunch of Knicks reserves in the game with less than 2 minutes left and down by 20, but Denver still having most of their starters in.
Yahoo! Sports Story
And there it is kids. We now get to hear all about how bad Detroit Pistons fans are again. I'd be suprised if they didn't just start showing that brawl everyday again and totally just forget about this one. After all Crymelo is part of Stern's new group of punks that gets away with everyhting.
I just traded for Crymelo in my fantasy NBA league and I hope he doesn't get suspended for more than a couple of games.

Multiple players, including Anthony, threw punches, and New York's Nate Robinson and Denver's J.R. Smith -- fouled hard by Mardy Collins on the play that started the brawl -- flew into the first row of the crowd while fighting during the NBA's scariest scene since Indiana players fought with Detroit fans in 2004.
