Should the Lions Really Lose the Thanksgiving Day Game?

This has been talked about all week leading up to the annual Thanksgiving Day game for the Lions. People seem to really be in support of punishing this horrible franchise with the lack of competition they give their opponents every week. Most importantly in the nationally televised Turkey Day game. So the Lions had something to prove this year and they failed miserably.

From the opening drive of the game you knew they were in serious trouble. On just the 2nd play from scrimmage the Lions fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Titans inside the Lions own 25. It got worse from there. Much worse. By the end of the 1st quarter they were already down 21-3. Of course that is nothing new. They have gotten lambasted several times this year by giving up 21+ points with nothing to show for it. 21-3 is so common that you almost expect it at least once every 2 weeks. By halftime they were trailing 35-10. When the game was finally over they had lost 47-10. Their worst Turkey Day defeat ever.

An amazing game of statistical futility. If you actually watched the entire game, CBS displayed an array of record setting statistics for the abysmal Lions season. The best part about the Lions games is that the stations almost always display Rod Marinelli's win-loss record during the game several times. All I need to know is that the Lions are 1-19 since they started 6-2 last year. They were 1-7 after starting 6-2!. Now they are 0-12 and well on their way to the first ever 0-16 season.

So...do we really think the tradition should be broken and take the game away? I'm not so sure I can defend keeping the game anymore as a Lions fan. I'm to the point that I hope the NFL provides them with a nice moving services and gets this franchise out of here and gives us a new one. As long as William Clay Ford isn't allowed to own that new team and has to go wherever they do.
